Horsefeather Cocktail Ingredients
- Whiskey (we’ve used our usual – Crown Royal Whiskey)
- Ginger Beer (the spicier the better)
- Angostura Bitters
- Lemon
Start by filling a highball glass with ice. Note to self: next time, make sure there’s enough ice in the freezer! If you’ve got lots, fill that glass!
Pour in the whiskey.
Next, it’s time for the ginger beer. You can add as much as you like! Pour it over the ice and whiskey.
Now it’s time for the bitters. Give that bottle a good shake and add 4 dashes of Angostura bitters.
Cut a lemon in half and add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. Stir and garnish with some curled lemon peel if you like.

I’m not sure. There seems to be some thought that it was developed in the 1990’s in Lawrence, Kansas. Another school of thought leans more towards Kansas City, Missouri. Either way, over the years, it has become a very popular Kansas City cocktail.

Horsefeather Cocktail
This boozy Horsefeather cocktail is perfect for game day drinks. Sip on this whiskey and ginger beer cocktail while cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs with this signature cocktail.
Ingredients
- 2 ounces Whiskey (or bourbon)
- 4 ounces (or more) Ginger Beer (this Fentiman's is fantastic)
- 1 lemon, cut in half
- 4 dashes of Angostura bitters
- Ice
Instructions
- Fill a highball glass with ice.
- Add the whiskey.
- Add the ginger beer. Add more if you like, according to taste.
- Add the angostura bitters.
- Use a bit of the lemon peel for the garnish.
